The Sacconi Quartet at 25

The Sacconis, comprised of Ben Hancox, violin, Hannah Dawson, violin, Robin Ashwell, viola and Cara Berridge, cello have been together now for 25 years with the original line-up throughout. A distinguished career of working alongside great artists and commissioning significant UK composers, (Jonathan Dove, Graham Fitkin, Roxanna Panufnik, Freya Waley-Cohen) the quartet have also inspired and coached many young professional players through the Sacconi Academy and at the Royal College of Music. Three of the quartet play on Simone Sacconi instruments. Recordings and broadcasts throughout their career have captured the magic of their performances further celebrated in May at the annual Sacconi Festival now in its 19th year. Learn more about the Sacconi Quartet and their activities HERE.

The Sacconi Quartet at 25 bring Canterbury Music Club’s 85th Anniversary celebrations to a triumphal conclusion with a programme to include a new quartet by Freda Waley-Cohen ‘which reveals the ensemble at their finest****’ (Guardian Wigmore Review) as well as Beethoven late quartets.
